Boy, I hope you're enjoying this hot weather! I'm not built for heat being a very pale ginger person. It's been very challenging hasn't it, this whole pandemic. As a self-employed musician, it's really hard losing practically all meaningful income and I really miss making music in real life with people. Zoom choir sessions just don't cut it, although it's lovely to keep some sort of connection.
As summer is moving along, I have decided to stop doing my Tuesday classes. Some schools have gone back, so there's a drop in numbers and especially with the weather being so good. I'm investigating doing outdoor classes but there are a few logistical problems with the amount of equipment I normally use. But watch this space or email me if you'd like to keep in touch over the summer.

![]() A huge effort has gone into creating an amazing day of activities to launch the new social enterprise in Tooting - Meet and Make Spaces. They will be organising events, workshops; a space to think, talk and have fun in for the whole community. They were meant to be launching with a big shebang on Saturday 2nd May at the Sea Cadets Hall. Things are a little bit different right now so they're running the whole day online instead on Saturday 30th May: A Big Fun Day Out (stays in). Some events will be live and some will be prerecorded and everyone involved lives or works in brilliant Tooting. There'll be virtual collection buckets for local charities - Little Village https://littlevillagehq.org/ and Share. Rhythm n Babes are taking part. Firstly with our Singing Safari at 10:30-11am. Dress as your favourite jungle animal or as an explorer - whatever you fancy! We'll sing about all the animals we find. Donations will welcome via Paypal.me/Rhythmnbabes. We're also leading a SONG LEARNING SESSION at 1.30pm-2pm. I have run community choirs for many years, so if you fancy a relaxed sing, where no one can hear you, come and join us. Little ones, older ones, solo or with family are welcome. We'll warm up our voices then learn a couple of songs. Register here: https://bit.ly/2TxQdE3 or join us via the Meet and Make Facebook page which will post the link on the day. You can then sing these songs as part of the Magical Quests Jungle Party from 2pm if you have already registered with them. After last Friday's successful and fun session, we're doing more sessions this week. If you'd like to join, use the Zoom meeting link you were sent before and join at the correct session time.
Tues 10:30-11:15am babies to 14m (although older are welcome to join) Fri 9:30-10:15am mixed ages to 4 yrs(ish). If you haven't received a link, please email me sally@rhythm-n-babes.co.uk . I have problems replying to gmail and hotmail accounts as they see it as spam. So you can DM via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram @rhythmnbabes It's a strange time we're living in and I know parents/carers are doing their best. You're amazing and no one will tell you. Go easy on yourselves and keep well. x Yes! We’re going live but via Zoom to keep it personal. 9:30-10 Friday 27 March. Register your interest via email
sally@rhythm-n-babes.co.uk or message me via Facebook/Instagram/Twitter @rhythmnbabes. I’ll send you a Zoom meeting link to join us. It’ll be pay what you can as we’re all in this together. Get your instruments, shakers, scarves ready. Find a space. Let’s do this! Looking forward to seeing you. It’ll be a learning curve for us all. If you would like to donate to help a self-employed musician, please use my Paypal.me/rhythmnbabes link below or I can send you bank details for you to do a transfer online. My classes are usually £6 each or £9 for two siblings so just give what you wish to. Hi all,
Here's a llittle prep video for my Zoom sessions coming soon! I'm trying to work around my family's needs, as I'm sure all of us are, what with home educating, trying to find a space/time to work, keeping sane etc etc. So I thought, let's get ready to make some music together. Please watch the video below in preparation - it's not a singing video but you might recognise where I'm filming from! The power of virtual reality. Do follow me on Facebook as this is the best way to keep in touch for the link to my Zoom sessions. Do download the free Zoom.us app onto whichever device you want. I will then be posting a link where you will attend a virtual meeting with a special ID code. Do turn on your video but I will have to mute everyone at some point as there is such a delay on the sound, we'll be all over the place. Sadly in light of the latest Government announcement, classes have been closed indefinitely.
I'm investigating ways to keep us all singing but in the meantime, keep well and look after each other. Be kind! Don't worry. We're on!Regular classes closed for half term? No bother. Our Tuesday 18th Feb classes at Harry's Chocolate Emporium (and who doesn't deserve an amazing hot chocolate in this weather?!) are on at 9.30 toddlers and 10.30 babies to walking. Come along. My lovely and talented colleague Jennifer @jensings will lead it. She's an amazing singer and guitarist too.
Friday 21st Feb is on at Graveney & Meadow Bar, Tooting Broadway 9.30 doors open and we'll start asap after I get everyone in. Older siblings are welcome as long as they don't squish the littler ones! Happy New Year!
Rhythm n Babes classes will start back Tuesday 7th January. Yes TUESDAY! New venue for a new year. At the lovely Harry's Chocolate Emporium, 332 Balham High Road, through the car park (next to the bike shop near Halfords). Gorgeous chocolates, hot chocolate and snacks so I'll have to watch my waistline here! 9.30-10.15 Toddlers 10.30-11.15 babies It's a cosy venue so probably 10 kids max each class. I'll see if I need to make it book ahead only, so do let me know if you'd be interested in booking a block or suggestions how to make it work. Still also at Graveney & Meadow on Fridays 9.30am. Looking forward to seeing you all. |
