Hooray! New classes are finally restarting on Tuesdays and Fridays from 22nd June 2021 at the Charles Holden Pub, Colliers Wood, SW19 2BH.
There will be two classes of a maximum of 8 households, socially distanced within Covid safe guidelines. The difference is my second class will be limited to babies up to 18 months. So if you've had a lockdown baby, you'll have a chance to meet other parents/carers in the same boat. There's a nice interval between classes so you stay in the garden and have a (socially distanced) chat, and even get refreshments from the pub. I've really missed making music with you all so I look forward to seeing you very soon. Please book on the Book Here page which will take you to my secure Book When booking system. Sallyx Well after cancelling classes for today (Tues 10th Nov) as lockdown was put in place, I have since researched and discovered we are allowed to continue. Obviously, the venue is fantastic as it is outside so has loads of ventilation. It is so important for parents' health and wellbeing as well as children's development so I'm so happy to be back.
https://www.happity.co.uk/blog/article/government-guidelines-for-baby-toddler-groups-covid If you have cancelled already for next week, please rebook on the Book Here page. Check through the booking reference in your confirmation emails before you pay again as I've only refunded today's class cancellations. If you got a notification that I cancelled the classes for the next few weeks, your booking may still stand. It's a bit complicated and a two tier system which I'm still learning! I will be checking that no one has overpaid. It takes 5-10 days for refunds to come through apparently. Sorry about the faff! I look forward to seeing you in person next week! Yay! Well we did it! Our first classes since lockdown started 6 months ago. We had two fully booked classes (8 households) on Tuesday at the lovely Charles Holden Pub opposite Colliers Wood tube station. Socially distanced stations marked out, hand sanitiser available, no sharing props and fabulous ventilation as we're outside in a covered gazebo. They have sides that can come down and even heating for when it's cold!
Families were great, respectful of each other, and seemed happy to be able to sing together in reality. It was so uplifting to make music with the children again. Some were surprised to see me in the flesh I think after joining via Zoom in the summer! Thank you so much to the Charles Holden pub for giving us the chance. It worked beautifully. Please do support them as they do lovely food too. Fab coffees and pastries are available at the same time as classes. I will still be offering Zoom classes on Friday mornings 10-10:30, which you can also book on the booking page linked below. I know people want classes in person but not many venues are suitable at the moment or viable financially. However, we'd like to be able to survive and be around for families after this pandemic is over, so please do support classes like this. I hope to see you soon. Boy, I hope you're enjoying this hot weather! I'm not built for heat being a very pale ginger person. It's been very challenging hasn't it, this whole pandemic. As a self-employed musician, it's really hard losing practically all meaningful income and I really miss making music in real life with people. Zoom choir sessions just don't cut it, although it's lovely to keep some sort of connection.
As summer is moving along, I have decided to stop doing my Tuesday classes. Some schools have gone back, so there's a drop in numbers and especially with the weather being so good. I'm investigating doing outdoor classes but there are a few logistical problems with the amount of equipment I normally use. But watch this space or email me if you'd like to keep in touch over the summer. A huge effort has gone into creating an amazing day of activities to launch the new social enterprise in Tooting - Meet and Make Spaces. They will be organising events, workshops; a space to think, talk and have fun in for the whole community. They were meant to be launching with a big shebang on Saturday 2nd May at the Sea Cadets Hall. Things are a little bit different right now so they're running the whole day online instead on Saturday 30th May: A Big Fun Day Out (stays in). Some events will be live and some will be prerecorded and everyone involved lives or works in brilliant Tooting. There'll be virtual collection buckets for local charities - Little Village https://littlevillagehq.org/ and Share. Rhythm n Babes are taking part. Firstly with our Singing Safari at 10:30-11am. Dress as your favourite jungle animal or as an explorer - whatever you fancy! We'll sing about all the animals we find. Donations will welcome via Paypal.me/Rhythmnbabes. We're also leading a SONG LEARNING SESSION at 1.30pm-2pm. I have run community choirs for many years, so if you fancy a relaxed sing, where no one can hear you, come and join us. Little ones, older ones, solo or with family are welcome. We'll warm up our voices then learn a couple of songs. Register here: https://bit.ly/2TxQdE3 or join us via the Meet and Make Facebook page which will post the link on the day. You can then sing these songs as part of the Magical Quests Jungle Party from 2pm if you have already registered with them. After last Friday's successful and fun session, we're doing more sessions this week. If you'd like to join, use the Zoom meeting link you were sent before and join at the correct session time.
Tues 10:30-11:15am babies to 14m (although older are welcome to join) Fri 9:30-10:15am mixed ages to 4 yrs(ish). If you haven't received a link, please email me [email protected] . I have problems replying to gmail and hotmail accounts as they see it as spam. So you can DM via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram @rhythmnbabes It's a strange time we're living in and I know parents/carers are doing their best. You're amazing and no one will tell you. Go easy on yourselves and keep well. x Yes! We’re going live but via Zoom to keep it personal. 9:30-10 Friday 27 March. Register your interest via email
[email protected] or message me via Facebook/Instagram/Twitter @rhythmnbabes. I’ll send you a Zoom meeting link to join us. It’ll be pay what you can as we’re all in this together. Get your instruments, shakers, scarves ready. Find a space. Let’s do this! Looking forward to seeing you. It’ll be a learning curve for us all. If you would like to donate to help a self-employed musician, please use my Paypal.me/rhythmnbabes link below or I can send you bank details for you to do a transfer online. My classes are usually £6 each or £9 for two siblings so just give what you wish to. Hi all,
Here's a llittle prep video for my Zoom sessions coming soon! I'm trying to work around my family's needs, as I'm sure all of us are, what with home educating, trying to find a space/time to work, keeping sane etc etc. So I thought, let's get ready to make some music together. Please watch the video below in preparation - it's not a singing video but you might recognise where I'm filming from! The power of virtual reality. Do follow me on Facebook as this is the best way to keep in touch for the link to my Zoom sessions. Do download the free Zoom.us app onto whichever device you want. I will then be posting a link where you will attend a virtual meeting with a special ID code. Do turn on your video but I will have to mute everyone at some point as there is such a delay on the sound, we'll be all over the place. Sadly in light of the latest Government announcement, classes have been closed indefinitely.
I'm investigating ways to keep us all singing but in the meantime, keep well and look after each other. Be kind! |
AuthorHi, I'm Sally and I've been running RnBs for over 13 years. I absolutely love seeing the little ones enjoy music and develop over time. |
